Widowed Minda’s seventeen-year old daughter, Tracy, brings home someone for her mother to meet. Minda expects to meet a teenage boy and is shocked when she finds that the boy she imagined turns out to be a man in his thirties. How to deal with this unsuitable situation is something all mothers of teenage daughters will be able to relate to. Just who IS Mark and what does he really want? I read the sample of this book and was drawn in against my will as I seldom read contemporary romance. The book synopsis pretty much tells the story, but it is really worth reading.I was captivated by this story and by the characters. I fell in love with grumpy old Addy Whimple and precocious, very sick, fourteen-year old Brady. I cheered for Coach Morgan and hoped he would get his heart’s desire. I admit to enjoying watch Mark wriggling this way and that, and I was especially pleased to find a female lead who gets swollen eyes and a red nose when she cries, like most normal people, instead of the usual heroine whose eyes just overflow without affecting her looks. I cared about seventeen-year old Tracy in the throes of a first infatuation. The foremost reason for how I feel about the characters is that they are real.There were places where I chuckled and places where I cried. In one chapter, we are treated to a description of the beautiful old McAllister building.
This is a well-written and easy to read book that flows smoothly from beginning to end. I did notice a couple of typos and at least one homophone, and a couple of other minor errors, but apart from that the editing is good. It is written from a Christian perspective and all the characters are Christian, so it is also a clean read. This is a novel I really enjoyed (although it won’t quite make my ‘Favourites’ folder), and is one I can recommend.

The story line is so different and unexpected. I appreciated the realness of the characters and their life situations yet it remained clean. It was an easy and enjoyable read and I am looking forward to more books by this author.

This book follows the traditional pattern of most romances but it includes so many other subjects that it is captivating and intensely fascinating. Stories like these enhance our lives. Enjoy.

I really enjoyed the book. It is a Christian book but the Kissing descriptions were a little more than needed, therefore I have to take it off my so my Granddaughters do not read it. Thank you.
This is a complex, engaging story set in Denver, and attracted my interest for that reason. I recently moved from the Denver metro area to Washington state. I still have a fondness for the mile high city, and I bought this book hoping it would do justice to the area. It didn't disappoint; well written, with appealing characters and realistic challenges. I particularly enjoyed the character growth throughout the story, and the importance of faith in their lives. The genuine expressions of faith in characters from teens to the elderly was particularly appealing. Most of all, it was skillfully written, from plot structure to details, and thoroughly draws the reader in to the story. I strongly recommend this book!
